Kadayawan Pamulak Float Parade

Davaoeños celebrates  Kadayawan Festival annually every month of August. The term "Kadayawan" is derived from the Mandaya word “madayaw”, a warm and friendly greeting used to explain a thing that is valuable, superior, beautiful, good, or profitable. The practice of thanksgiving or “pahinungod” long time ago by Davao’s ethnic tribes residing at the foot of Mount Apo is still practiced by modern day Dabawenyos nowadays. This tradition flourished and evolved into an annual festival of thanksgiving. The festival was first called "Apo Duwaling" created from the famous icons of Davao:  Mt. Apo, the country's highest peak; Durian, the king of fruits; and Waling-waling, the queen of orchids. But in the year 1988, City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte renamed the festival as "Kadayawan sa Dabaw". 

This year's theme was "10 Tribes, 1 Vibe", which represents ten indigenous tribes of Davao City, the Ata, Matigsalug, Ovu-Manuvo, Klata-Djangan, Tagabawa, Tausog, Maguindanao, Maranao, Kagan, and Sama. These tribes are connected by a common origin that binds them together as one. 

The grand finale of the Kadayawan Festival was the Pamulak sa Kadayawan Float Parade. It is the showcase of the blooming of flowers and ripening of fruits in a floral float parade and competition. Our Company had decided to join the floral float parade non-competing small category.
